Outreach to the Hungry - Sandwich Ministry

Feeding the Hungry – Sandwich Ministry of the Franciscan Center includes the work of more than 75 individuals and households who make sandwiches to feed the hungry of Hartford.  This ministry works to alleviate hunger for the homeless, unemployed and underemployed.  Volunteers make and distribute sandwiches to an average of 50 people a day.  The ministry, known to our community as “the Sandwich Ministry” serves men and women of all races and faiths.  This is a wonderful opportunity for families and individuals to serve those less fortunate than ourselves.

On the second and forth Wednesdays of the month the sandwiches are given out inside the Urban Center where students of the Wellness Center come to offer assistance in medical assessment, education and referral along with nutrition consultation and assistance from the Graduate Counseling program.
