Our Prayer of Giving

Lord, as we wait for your coming,
may we be open to your Spirit within us.
We offer the gifts of our time, talent, and treasure
to our brothers and sisters in need both near and far.
We ask that you bless these gifts,
And that your mercy makes a difference
in all our lives. Amen

Papa Bondye, n'ap tann ou vini,
fè nou louvri kè nou bay Lesprisen an.
Nou ofri kado tan nou, talan nou, ak trezò nou
bay tout frè ak sè ki nan bezwen toupatou.
Nou mande ou pou beni kado sa yo
Epi se pou gen pitye ou pou pote chanjman
nan lavi nou tout. Amèn.

Please join us and our Haitian brothers and sisters
in praying Our Prayer of Giving
during the Advent and Christmas seasons

Growing our Giving Trees out of
Our Time, Talent & Treasure

Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without complaint. As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
(1 Peter 4:8-10)

It is out of our love for one another that we reach out to our brothers and sisters in Hartford, CT and Zoranje, Haiti with our time, talents and treasures.

At St. Patrick - St. Anthony, we have a long tradition of expressing gratitude for our blessings by sharing them with those who have less. For some years, we have placedtrees in our church, tagged with gift suggestions for Hartford’s poor and atree for Global concerns. This Advent we will be focusing our giving trees on our time, talent and treasures.

The Time & Talent Giving Tree is for those who want to offer their gifts of time and talent. Through our love of God and one another we find ways in which we can use our time and talent to share who we are with the people here in Hartford and in Zoranje. We can use our treasures to empower the people of Hartford and Zoranje to help and minister to one another and to give them hope for a better future. On the giving trees this year will befor you to share your time and talent by offering your prayers for a victim of violence, a recipient of our giving trees and many other prayer requests. There will also be an opportunity of your time for an upcoming event in 2010, like the Walk Against Hunger or Rebuilding Together Day.

As always, our neighbors here in Hartford and in Zoranje need our support (treasure), especially in winter and in the Christmas season. As the world grows ever smaller, faraway dots on the map become our neighborhood too, and they call to us for help. The Local Giving Tree is for our neighbors in Hartford. This year we will be helping out the following organizations: Adventure Saturdays, Catherine’s Place, CT Children’s Medical Center, House of Bread and Youth-United for Survival(Y-US).The Global Giving Tree is for our sister parish in Zoranje, Haiti, St. Genevieve.

We hope you will take a tag from one, two or all three trees and give as generously as you can with your time, talent and treasure.

Local Giving Tree
Instructions

Local Giving Tree Tag

1. Beginning on the Weekend of November 28-29, 2009, take a tag off the Local Giving Tree.

2. During the Advent & Christmas season, please pray for the person receiving the gift.

3. The tags will give the name, age and gender of each recipient. There may be a gift suggestion for the person which would include the size and/or color. If no suggestion is made, you may purchase any gift appropriate for that person. If this is the case, please put a removable tag on the gift stating what it is. (This tag will be removed before the gift is given out.)

4. After you purchase the gift, please cut along the dotted line of the gift tag and put the upper part of the tag onto the gift. Tape the tag firmly onto the gift.

5. Returned the gift by Sunday, December 13, 2009 by placing them on the tables behind the Altar in the church.

Global Giving Tree
Give a Gift of Hope

Help Sponsor a Child’s Education: Haitian parents must pay tuition of about $50 per child each year for school. For many this is a luxury they cannot afford—a luxury that is the surest way out of a life of poverty. Will you help sponsor a child's education and give them hope for the future?

Help Sponsor a Teacher’s Salary: The average teacher's salary in Haiti is $600.00 per year. St. Genevieve's School must fund this salary on their own. Will you help provide a Haitian teacher with the means to live and teach in Zoranje, where skills are so desperately needed?

St. Genevieve Lunch Program: The average person in Zoranje has one meal every few days. Children go to school hungry and do not have the energy to learn. St. Patrick - St. Anthony would like to help our sister parish start a lunch program at the parish school. The program will provide a meal during the school year to the 400 children who attend the school each day.
For fifteen cents a day you can provide a student with a meal, a meal they would not have otherwise. The change in your pockets can make a difference to a child in Zoranje, Haiti by providing food and the energy to learn.

How you can help

$ 5.00 Buys a tree that will be planted in Zoranje.
$ 25.00 Buys school supplies.
$ 30.00 Feeds a student for 1 year.
$ 50.00 Pays for a child’s tuition for the year.
$100.00 Helps to buy rice for the year.
$600.00 Pays a teacher’s salary for the year.
Priceless Praying for the people of Haiti.
