Inquiry for the Immersion Trip to Haiti
Do to the earthquake in January of 2010, all immersion trips have cancelled. If you are interested in going to Haiti contact the parish office and we can keep you up to date when trips might continue.
St. Patrick - St. Anthony Parish on December 5, 2004 entered into a covenant relationship with our sister parish, St. Genevieve Parish in Zoranje, Haiti. This twinning relationship is administered through Haitian Ministries for the Diocese of Norwich, Inc. Haitian Ministries have been working in Haiti with various organization and parishes for over twenty-five years and come to us with a wealth of experience and knowledge.
During the Immersion-Retreat Visit you spend 7 to 10 days traveling in Haiti, visiting orphanages, clinics and getting to know the people of Haiti. Whenever possible, you will get a glimpse into the lives of the Haitian people through their environment, their culture, their faith and their way of life. You will visit organizations doing tremendous work in Haiti, you will play with the children at the orphanages and hospitals, and you will have a chance to listen to invited speakers talk to you on different topics including: justice and peace, politics, religion, language, and culture in Haiti. Each day is filled with new experiences and with new friends who you will remember long after you have returned home. During this 7 to 10 day immersion program you will spend two to three days at our sister parish, St. Genevieve Church in Zoranje, Haiti.
Estimated Cost of the Trip $1,300.00 to $1,500.00
