Prayer Network
The Prayer Network is a ministry of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church dedicated to promoting the spiritual well being and health of all those who participate. You are invited to call the Franciscan Center for Urban Ministry, 756-4034, x. 162, with prayer intentions that will be handled with care and in a confidential manner.
How does the Prayer Network operate?
The Prayer Network is organized to respond in a timely manner to requests for prayer. Intentions are collected and then called out to the Prayer Network members. The coordinator initially calls two team leaders who each call other members of the Prayer Network. Each member will then pass along the prayer intentions to the next member on their team. Once contacted, members will each begin to pray in his or her own way for the intentions. Unless a longer period of prayer is requested, an intention will be kept in prayer for two days. If the need continues, the Prayer Network can be notified again. During this period, not only the person in crisis, but also the entire household will be remembered in prayer.
What kind of intentions can be called into the Prayer Network?
Actually any kind of an intention may be called into the Prayer Network. It is not necessary for a person to give the name of the individual for whom prayers are being requested, but it will be most helpful if you can give some idea of the situation about which members of the Prayer Network are praying. It is difficult to focus prayer if all that is requested is “prayer for a special intention”.
The Prayer Network will have a special application in crisis situations, whether that crisis be illness, an accident, sudden trauma, or a crisis such as depression, chemical dependency, unemployment, etc. An out-of-town crisis or a medical situation often involves simply waiting with a mounting sense of helplessness. The Prayer Network offers an opportunity to
support a loved one in prayer thus avoiding the terrible frustration of “being able to do nothing”.
Certainly requests for prayers in thanksgiving and gratitude are most welcome also.
How does one become a member of the Prayer Network?
We welcome new members to the Prayer Network ministry. If you would like to become a member, please call the Prayer Network line at 756-4034, x. 162, and leave your name and phone number.
